EnergyFest: Empowering the Future

EnergyFest brings together the key players and drivers of the renewable energy industry in a series of gatherings, with a festival vibe, to introduce, discuss, champion and exhibit the future of energy in Australia and globally. With a Flagship Festival held in an Australian capital city annually, and three annual ‘UniFests’ held at various Australian universities, EnergyFest seeks to bring together those driving the energy industry now, with those responsible for shaping and leading it into the future.

Rather than the traditional conference, which is bound by excessive structure and norms, EnergyFest, like any pioneering venture, such as renewable energy, seeks to bring a level of irreverence and challenging the status quo by highlighting new ideas, technology and means of shaping the future. The focus is very much on interaction and avoiding lecturing to audiences, with panels, social interaction and the ‘experience’ of coming together to progress a movement, rather than a simple intellectual pursuit or business networking.

Why EnergyFest

EnergyFest is the brainchild of Andy Evans, an Australian who has been in the energy industry for over twenty years and played a pioneering role in introducing new industries including onshore and offshore wind, and is currently actively progressing the decarbonisation of the logistics and maritime industries using renewable energy and electrification. Andy is also the executive producer, creator and host of documentaries which highlight our relationship with planetary forces and how we can use them to power our world, including Planet Wind and Planet Sun (to be released at the Melbourne Flagship Festival in October 2025).

Andy is passionate not only about creating a clean energy future for Australia and the world, but creating opportunities for industry to grow and thrive and provide economic and social prosperity for those looking to work in, or enter, the renewable energy industry, an industry that will continue to help shape our future. Hence, EnergyFest was born!

EnergyFest aims to present information in an enjoyable and approachable, not lectured, way. Hear from and talk with industry experts, pioneers, change leaders, advocates and those already doing the work to shape our energy landscape. Celebrate in a 'festival-like' atmosphere a little different from the standard larger-scale professional congregation.

Our UniFest events are intended to bring together the current leaders showing the way in the energy landscape, with the next generation of leaders working through their studies or early working lives. Bringing together those leading the charge, with the next generation of leaders and influencers of the world in tandem, UniFest aims to show what the energy industry, and related industries, are like now, and hear from our next leaders how they would like to shape their futures and the world.

The future is closer than we all think and pioneers and changemakers continue to work diligently to test the boundaries to make the unimaginable possible. Come and see and meet those, and the technology, that will shape our future. Alongside showcasing established renewables such as onshore and offshore wind, solar and hydro-electricity, see examples of technology such as electric vehicles and solar-powered batteries that will be incorporated into, and used as part of EnergyFest.
